ESG Communication

Communicating sustainability with clarity and rigour

ESG communication should help people understand what an organisation does, which results it can document and which objectives it has set. Accessible language and precision must work together: simplifying does not mean removing relevant conditions, limitations or information.

We turn environmental, social and governance strategies, performance and information into coherent messages and content for different stakeholders. We start with data and materials shared by the appropriate contacts, distinguishing what is confirmed from what needs further investigation.

We build a recognisable narrative without turning specific initiatives into absolute claims about the sustainability of the whole organisation.

Giving every claim its context

A figure, certification or project can be misunderstood when separated from its scope. We work on messages to clarify what they refer to, which period they cover and which information supports their meaning.

With content owners, we review available sources, the distinction between objectives and results and the qualifications required. We flag vague wording, unclear comparisons and passages that cannot be confirmed through editorial review.

Technical checks and any legal assessments remain the responsibility of the appropriate professionals. Communication does not establish a claim as proven simply by presenting it effectively.

Adapting the narrative without changing the substance

Employees, customers, communities and institutional stakeholders may have different questions and require different levels of detail. We define messages and formats around these needs, maintaining consistency across reports, the website, presentations, campaigns and internal communication.

A summary must remain connected to the complete information: a heading or infographic should not suggest a broader result than the source describes. We organise references, explanations and supporting materials so that readers can understand the context.

The work brings together the brand’s tone and the specifics of the information, avoiding impersonal language as well as promises that the available materials do not support.

When an ESG communication project is useful

The programme can support the distribution of a report, a new initiative or a review of existing content. It is useful when technical information is available but needs a clearer form for sharing with priority audiences. We can also help coordinate materials produced by different functions and address recurring questions.

  • Turn sustainability data and information into understandable messages with clear context.
  • Review ESG copy and claims on the website and in corporate materials.
  • Prepare summary content connected to reports and supporting documents.
  • Align internal and external communication on initiatives, results and future objectives.
  • Develop materials to answer key stakeholders’ questions.

How we develop the content

  1. 01

    Gather and clarify

We examine objectives, audiences, data and available materials. We identify the contacts who can confirm information and the points requiring explanations, qualifications or specialist checks.

  2. 02

    Define messages and formats

We build a message architecture and choose appropriate formats. We distinguish essential information from further detail, preserving the connection between claims and the evidence supporting them.

  3. 03

    Produce and review

We develop copy and visual content consistent with the brand. We share drafts with company content owners and incorporate confirmations and revisions before publication.

  4. 04

    Publish and update

We coordinate distribution through the agreed channels. We gather questions and feedback, updating content when data, commitments or initiatives change and keeping the information’s time references explicit.

Content that enables informed discussion

The work may include key messages, web pages, presentations, project sheets, infographics, questions and answers and internal communication materials. We define the scope around objectives and the maturity of the available information.

We can prepare editorial guidelines and a review process to support ongoing production. Attention to evidence is not a one-off check, but a principle to maintain through updates and adaptations for different channels.

The result should help stakeholders understand and assess the organisation’s progress, rather than replace their questions with reassuring wording or absolute conclusions.
