Understand the signals before deciding how to act
Reputational issues do not always arise from a single event. They can develop through unmet expectations, recurring narratives, sector tensions and changes in stakeholder relationships.
We analyse perceptions, sensitive issues and emerging signals to help the organisation understand its reputational landscape. We connect source analysis with the questions facing management and communication teams.
The aim is not to predict every crisis, but to distinguish factors that deserve attention, make uncertainty explicit and build an evidence base that supports decisions.
Read narratives, actors and context
A negative news story and a structural vulnerability are not the same thing. We observe how the organisation and its associated topics are represented, which arguments recur and which participants contribute to the debate.
We connect media coverage, accessible public conversations, the competitive landscape and materials shared by the client. Stakeholder mapping helps distinguish roles, expectations and relationships relevant to the issue being analysed.
Quantitative indicators are considered alongside content: classifications and sentiment require human verification, particularly where irony, ambiguity or controversial topics are involved.
Separate evidence, hypotheses and priorities
We develop a considered interpretation of the signals, indicating what is documented, what needs confirmation and which developments are only possible scenarios. An isolated source or an increase in mentions does not automatically demonstrate an imminent risk.
The scope depends on accessible sources, languages, the observation period and agreed collection arrangements. We do not access private conversations or present the analysis as exhaustive or representative of every audience.
The work supports reputational and communication assessments. It does not replace legal checks, specialist investigations or decisions by those responsible within the organisation, and does not automatically include operational crisis management.
When to use Reputation & Risk Intelligence
The programme can address a focused question or inform ongoing observation. It is useful when an organisation needs to understand a sensitive issue before setting its priorities, avoiding reactions based solely on impressions or isolated incidents.
- Investigate an emerging issue and its potential relationship with the organisation’s positioning.
- Understand the expectations and arguments of stakeholders involved in organisational change.
- Recognise recurring narratives and areas of vulnerability within the sector debate.
- Prepare management and spokespeople to discuss sensitive issues using evidence in context.
- Define which signals to follow and which developments need further investigation or internal assessment.
How we build the analysis
-
01
Define the issue
We gather objectives, context and available information. We identify topics, subjects and decisions to support, clarifying intended users, the time horizon, sources and analytical limitations before drawing conclusions.
-
02
Gather and connect
We examine selected sources and organise content, narratives and actors. We check relevance and provenance, compare converging or conflicting evidence, and keep observed facts distinct from interpretations.
-
03
Assess scenarios and priorities
We share the most significant signals and their possible implications. We make assumptions and information gaps explicit, developing considered scenarios and priorities for further investigation without assigning certainty to developments that remain hypothetical.
-
04
Update the assessment
We define which topics to continue observing and how to share any changes. Frequency, recipients and alert criteria are agreed; new evidence may confirm or change the initial assessments.
Intelligence that informs internal discussion
The work may include scenario analysis, topic and stakeholder maps, narrative analysis, briefings and periodic reports. We define formats and levels of detail around the people who need to use the results.
We connect evidence with reputational strategy, spokesperson preparation and any specialist investigation required. The value of intelligence lies not in accumulating warning signals, but in making discussions clearer about what to observe, what to verify and which decisions remain the organisation’s responsibility.
Sharing the limitations of the analysis also helps different contacts assess evidence on a common basis and request the further investigation that is actually needed.
