Founded within the innovation ecosystem, we have grown alongside our clients, expanding our expertise, sectors, and services. Today, Smartitaly Communications is an independent firm with more than 20 professionals, combining strategic vision, creativity, technology, and relationships.
The origins: when innovation was a challenge
Smartitaly was founded in 2011 to give a voice to Italy’s emerging startup ecosystem through an innovative approach to communication. From the outset, we worked with major companies, research centres and institutions, helping connect the worlds of innovation and business. Collaborations with the Polytechnic University of Milan, the Polytechnic University of Turin and the Italian Institute of Technology marked the first steps of a journey built on bringing together expertise, ideas and opportunities.
From startups to major projects for Italy
Over the years, we have taken part in initiatives supporting the development of innovation in Italy: from the startup working groups at EXPO 2015 to institutional collaboration with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers on the Digital Agenda, and activities delivered with Milano Green Week in 2018 and 2019 for the Milano Kids Festival. These experiences have strengthened our ability to connect businesses, institutions, media and communities around projects for education and development.

Over time, we have worked alongside some of the leading Italian and international organizations in strategic sectors such as energy, technology, finance, automotive, and defense, developing the ability to navigate complex contexts and continually evolving communication challenges.

Over these fifteen years, we have covered firsthand some of the changes reshaping Italy: the development of charging infrastructure for electric mobility, the spectrum refarming that accompanied the arrival of 5G in Italy, the energy transition, and the growth of renewable energy. We have followed the evolution of technologies and issues set to transform businesses and society, from artificial intelligence to cybersecurity, translating complex processes into stories, content, and relationships that reach diverse audiences.

Energy and sustainability have been among our main areas of specialisation from the outset. We have supported communications for international groups and innovative organisations developing new solutions for the energy transition. We also contributed to the creation and positioning of K.EY, a leading event for the sector. Fifteen years together
On May 20, 2026, we celebrated Smartitaly’s first 15 years with an event at Terrazza Aperol in the heart of Milan. It was an opportunity to bring together our team, clients, long-standing partners, journalists, and influencers, and to share a milestone built through projects, collaborations, and relationships. An evening to look back on our journey together and look ahead to the new challenges awaiting us.
